Mike and Temple Visiting Us in DC

We took the tour of the Capitol building and sat at the House of Representatives session

There were lots of things on our agenda: International Spy Museum, Ethiopian restaurant for Temple's birthday, the monuments, the Holocaust Museum, Union Station, Jewish NY Style Deli, Jaleo, National Air and Space Museum, etc. We had wonderful time together.

Admiring Art

Priscilla's greatgrandfather, George-Olivier Desvallieres, was an artist in Paris and one of his paintings is in Smithsonian. We were able to view the painting.

That was very special.

Here is Priscilla admiring her greatgrandfather's talent. There is a possibility that it is a portrait of her greatgrandmother.

Then here are some of my favourite paintings of French Impressionists

Adventures in the City

One very cold freezing day Priscilla and I adventured into the city. Yes, our noses almost froze off, but we were able to take advantage of not not many tourists in town.

New Friends in DC

It has been a blessing to get to know other believers in DC. I love hanging out with Jessica and little Christopher who looks just like his daddy who is another butler at the embassy

Thankful for our New Home

We are thankful for our new home in DC. Almost every time Stephen has a day off, we try to visit the city. So far we toured the two Smithsonian museums.

Our DC Apartment

After a long trip, Stephen arrived at the British Ambassadors' Residence with truck mountain top. He was welcome by the lovely staff with a plant as a welcome token (now sitting in the living room in the corner)

The apt was all furnished with fine furniture, the bed was made, and the towels were hanging in the bathroom.

God is so good to us! He is loving and Caring in every details of our lives!

Having Fun with Friends

Hanging out with Simpsons and Masseys is always full of laughter and giggles and lots of good food!

Stephen prepared a Moroccan dinner-the menu he learned through a cooking class at Charleston Cooks that Philip and Sarah gave as a birthday gift last year.

I enjoyed using my grandma's china that had traveled in 1960s from Germany to St. Petersburg to Tbilisi to Charleston...WOW>>>>>

Why are these boys goofing off...Too much of what????

Sunday School Party at 106 King Street

Day after Halloween, we hosted a Sunday School party at our house. Simpsons (Mike and Temple) and Sprungers (Stephen and Anna) stayed up till 2AM making all the sweets... yum, yum! It was a night of Halloween and we were very sad that no trick or treaters came to our place-we had so much candy around the house to give out. Anyways, we made several deserts
1. Chocolate Hazelnut cake with candied hazelnuts
2. Pumpkin Trifle by Paula Dean (we changed the recipe a lot)
3. Orange Balls
4. Chocolate Truffles
5. Almond biscotti

As for drinks, we prepared hot chocolate bar and decaff coffee!

We decided that next day at our Sunday School we would put funny names on our name tags. Stephen was Candy Corn, Anna was Pumpkin, Ben was Kit Kat, and Emily was Trick or Treat! We were intending to make people laugh but not many noticed...Anyways!

Here are some pictures of sweets, Simpsons and Masseys!
